The game against Everton opened up a lot of conversations about this Arsenal side. Some thought it was towards the end of a good streak of wins, while others thought that it was lucky, and that Arsenal weren't playing that well.

The real answer, though, is neither. It may be somewhere in the middle. Arsenal did not play particularly well against Everton, but there is no reason why this streak cannot go on. They have lost and drawn games recently, but none of this is to say that Arsenal will start faltering from now on.

However, things do have to improve. Arsenal look like a shell of themselves these days, and they need to improve on all levels to be able to continue at the top of the Premier League as well as the Champions League tables.

However, one former Liverpool player was asked about their win over Everton, and his answer was very interesting. It painted the win in a good light, and turned the script in a way.

Everyone has been criticising Arsenal about their performance, but Daniel Sturridge was very vocal about how the win was so gritty, and spoke in the Gunners' favour.

He said: “Arsenal fought their socks off. Business-like performance, though. We talk about how they went about their business, made good passes, good decision.

“I think they’ll go home buzzing with their overall team performance. The first half they were OK, the second half they kept knocking. In the end you go back top of the league with a performance like that and the manager will be pleased.”

Now, I don't completely agree with Sturridge's remarks. Yes, they showed a lot of grit, and they did work their socks off, and they went about their business. However, they probably will not be buzzing strictly in terms of their team performance.

It was clear that while this was a win that Arsenal will take any day of the week as long as they ended up with three points, and like so many others have said in the past, these are the types of wins that get you closer to the Premier League title.

Arsenal really need that. Even when they are not playing well, they are winning, and that is the most important thing about this entire run so far.

They have collected the most points in Europe so far (including the Champions League) and if they improve just a little bit, they will be up there during the business end of the season as well.
