Myles Lewis-Skelly has been handed Premier League Young Player of the Year recognition on Monday Night Football by.... Jamie Carragher?

Jamie Carragher has made his feelings known on Arsenal in the past. As a Liverpool legend and proud fan of his former club, Carragher has played a key role in the revived rivalry between Arsenal and Liverpool during the Premier League title race this season.

While Carragher might be outspoken in his punditry, he'll be the first to say that his claims are reasoned and well-presented. When they go against Arsenal, Gunners will be the first to disagree. However, there will be no disagreements with his most recent Arsenal-related opinion.

Arsenal critic just gave Myles Lewis-Skelly what PL wouldn’t

On Monday Night Football, Jamie Carragher was quick to share his shock in Myles Lewis-Skelly not being nominated for the Premier League Young Player of the Year award. So, he stated his case about why he believes MLS deserves a shot.

In his own words, Carragher said: "I couldn't believe [Myles Lewis-Skelly] wasn't on that [Young Player of the Year] list. The reason I went for him was how he's played in big games that I've watched, against Man City, against Liverpool, at the Bernabeu [against Real Madrid]."

"It was five or six big performances in big venues where I thought I've gone to those places at 23, 24, and that was a lot for me to do that. To actually go there and play well, you almost feel like you need to be at your peak... to feel comfortable and feel like I can go there and be one of the best players,"

"To do that at 18, at the Bernabeu? Wow."

That one word summarizes exactly how Arsenal fans have felt about Myles Lewis-Skelly this season: wow. He's been a complete breath of fresh air and a sign that all things are bright for the future in his left-back position.

It's brilliant to see Myles Lewis-Skelly given his flowers from legends of the game. It's just a shame that the Premier League award system is inherently flawed.

William Saliba was given a nomination. Of course, Saliba is more established than Lewis-Skelly, but fans don't consider him a young player anymore. Sure, his age suggests it, but this was his third season competing at this level. It was Lewis Skelly's first, on the other hand.

Lewis-Skelly doesn't do what he does for personal accolades. He's a very humble young player, who just wants the best for his team. But this snub from the Premier League needs explaining.
