Inter 1-0 Arsenal: Player ratings as Gunners beaten in Champions League
- Arsenal lost for the first time in this season's UEFA Champions League, slipping to a 1-0 defeat away to Inter at the San Siro Stadium, thanks to a Hakan Calhanoglu penalty.
- Mikel Merino, Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz were among those who struggled most.

Mikel Merino (CM) - 3/10 - He only lasted 45 minutes, but Merino did a lot of damage in one half. Unfortunately, most of the damage was inflicted upon Arsenal.
Merino's most notable blunder was the handball to give away a penalty. Yes, it was a tight call, but Merino's arm was high enough to give the referee the option.
Speaking of options, Merino found precious view of those whenever he got on the ball. Vanilla use of possession is becoming a common theme for Arteta's latest expensive acquisition.
Thomas Partey - 5/10 - His contract's up next summer, but Thomas Partey probably didn't do enough to convince Inter to make him an offer. The Ghanaian rarely broke from deep with power and pace, but he was active and tough defensively, even though what Arsenal needed more was some guile and inspiration in the absence of Declan Rice.
Leandro Trossard - 4/10 - Inspiration was again lacking from Leandro Trossard. Don't tell Arteta, though, because the gaffer insists on forcing the winger into an ill-fitting central role. Forget Ethan Nwaneri, who was gifted just seven minutes. Perhaps he'll get an extended chance when Arteta is desperate. It worked for Saliba and Emile Smith Rowe (sort of).
