Inter Milan are preparing a fresh January transfer bid for Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is out of favour at Arsenal as it stands.
Arsenal signed Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City in 2022. When he arrived, there was plenty of optimism in the air about what Mikel Arteta was building at Arsenal.
The Ukraine international made an instant impact in the Arsenal lineup. He improved their fluidity out wide and with his combination of overlapping runs and inverted play, he made the Gunners a force to be reckoned with.
Then, an unfortunate injury hit Zinchenko and when he returned to the lineup, he didn't seem the same player as he once was. He was often found out when he was asked to defend.
Now that Arsenal place more of an emphasis on defensive football, it really leaves little to no room for Zinny. Unfortunately, his expertise do not excel here.
Inter Milan prepare fresh transfer bid for out-of-favour Arsenal defender
According to a report by Henry Tomlinson of The Sun, Inter Milan are now preparing a fresh transfer bid for Oleksandr Zinchenko. Furthermore, Mikel Arteta is open-minded about allowing the transfer to happen.
So far, the January transfer window has not been an exciting one for everybody involved with Arsenal. No players have come in, despite the obvious needs to keep up with Liverpool in the Premier League title race.
This week, David Ornstein revealed his pessimism about Arsenal's action this month. The reliable journalist was realistic in claiming that he doesn't envision much business, if any at all, happening at the Emirates Stadium this month.
It is true that it's never been Arsenal's approach to strengthen in the January transfer window. However, considering they struggled to strengthen *enough* in the summer transfer window, there is growing pressure on Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal hierarchy to make some additions this month.
Unfortunately, that pressure is probably not going to be caved into. Therefore, Arsenal fans must brace for more players leaving than joining.
Zinchenko is one of those players who, with all due respect, Arsenal can afford losing. He plays in a position which is packed with talent, so it's unlikely he would even play much between now and the end of the season, anyway.
Therefore, it'll be interesting to see how Arsenal approach the transfer bid, if it comes, from Inter Milan. It would be a sad farewell but for his sake, a necessary one.
