Uh, oh. Not again, surely?

The international break reared its ugly head for Arsenal supporters on Thursday night as Bukayo Saka limped off with a suspected hamstring injury during England's 2-1 defeat to Greece in the Nations League.

Saka was included in Lee Carsley's starting XI alongside Declan Rice at Wembley as Carsley selected an uber aggressive lineup in the absence of Harry Kane. However, the Three Lions produced one of their worst performances of recent memory as they succumbed to a stunning home defeat.

Saka was far from his best on Thursday night, but he was seemingly hindered after Greece took an early second-half lead with a hamstring issue.

The Arsenal superstar lasted just six second half minutes before being forced off. He was seen limping after Vangelis Pavledis opened the scoring for the away side and stretching his right leg out when Greece were preparing for a goal kick.

The 23-year-old was replaced by Noni Madueke 51 minutes into the contest, immediately sparking widespread concern among the Gunners fanbase.

“He’s being assessed," England interim manager Carsley said post-match (via the Standard). “In the build-up to the first goal, you could see he felt something in his leg.”

Carsley's comments failed to supply a satisfying resolution, but reports have emerged on Friday morning suggesting Saka has sustained no major damage. Let's pray for a mere tweak and a rest on Sunday as the Three Lions travel to Finland.

Mikel Arteta will be desperate to have his star wide man available right after the break as Arsenal travel to Bournemouth on Saturday 19 October. Saka has been in scintillating form at the start of 2024/25, leading the Premier League with seven assists. He's taken on greater responsibility in the absence of captain Martin Odegaard and shone with the armband on.

League leaders Liverpool visit the Emirates on 27 October.
