Will Arsenal be financially hamstrung in its search for a striker in the summer?

This upcoming summer could be Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta's chance to get on the good side of fans who are in desperate need of something good to happen.

A new striker, along with a host of other needs are at the top of Berta's to-do list with the Gunners' Premier League title challenge falling away due to the lack of depth in attacking areas.

Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli were all injured, and the club didn't get any reinforcements in January, which has now led the Gunners to be 12 points behind league leaders Liverpool with nine games to go.

So, when the season ends and the transfer window opens, the Gunners should be ready to roll and bring in key players at key positions to help strengthen the squad, right?

But will the club be able to?

There is a thought that some outgoings would need to happen first with Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jorginho and even Thomas Partey considered to be on the list of ones to be walking out the Emirates door.

That's a start.

Can Arsenal financially compete in striker search?

More could be on the way out too with Kieran Tierney and Fabio Vieira also linked with moves way.

Such is the urgent need for a striker, the Gunners will leave no stone unturned, but the chance to lure Newcastle star Alexander Isak to the Emirates is looking increasingly unlikely, with the fee needed to get him out of Newcastle thought to be astronomical, with ESPN thinking it could start at £120 million.

Does that rule out Isak? Given the other needs the Gunners have, most likely.

But Berta has reportedly already made Viktor Gyokeres his target this offseason per the Athletic's David Ornstein.

Having been linked with a move to the Gunners for the best part of 18 months, he would also be a considerably cheaper alternative to Isak, and that would then leave Arsenal some financial wriggle room to pursue other targets as well.

That seems like a win-win and then we have Benjamin Sesko who has also been on Arsenal's radar and he would fall into the same category as Gyokeres and be a cheaper option.

So while the Gunners do have money to spend, even with a few outgoings, it appears that there is a limit on how much they can/want to spend on a striker this summer.
