Former Liverpool legend and renowned pundit Jamie Carragher has just issued a title race warning to all Arsenal fans after the weekend of Premier League action.
On a weekend where Arsenal dropped points, Carragher's own team lost, and Manchester City won, there are a lot of talking points about the way the Premier League title race is shaping up this season.
Rather than comparing Arsenal to Liverpool and potentially posing them as a threat, Carragher has actually gone the other way, and he has actually got a fair point.
He talked about how big of a threat Manchester City can be to Arsenal's title challenge, and what he is saying makes a lot of sense.
Jamie Carragher issues Manchester City warning to Arsenal fans on Premier League title race
He said, after the Manchester City-Liverpool game: "I think Arsenal will be nervous in the title race because it’s Man City and they’ve done this to them twice before. Twice in last three years they’ve come from behind and caught Arsenal.
“The manner of the City victory today, that first-half performance as well. Liverpool are the champions but City took them to the cleaners. I think on the back of Arsenal dropping points against a promoted team, they would have been hoping for a draw between City and Liverpool.
“But they saw City not only win – but win well – and they might be getting a few flashbacks to the last couple of times they had a chance at a title. It might be a long two weeks. I still think Arsenal are the best team I’ve seen in the Premier League this season, no doubt.
"But it’s been so long since they won the title so everyone will become twitchy during the run-in.”
He may have had a few eyebrows raised by a statement there, but he does have a point.
Carragher is not wrong. Arsenal will probably have that PTSD of being overtaken by Manchester City during the business end of the Premier League title race.
However, calling Sunderland a mere 'promoted team' was a bit harsh, especially considering how well they have been doing, especially at home.
If anything, it would be equally tough for Manchester City to win at Stadium Of Light, so making it sound like a team fighting relegation without giving context on who it actually is was a bit wrong.
However, what he is saying makes sense. Carragher knows that this Manchester City side can do a lot of damage if given a little bit of space and breathing room.
However, Arsenal know it as well. Probably, anyway. They will have learned it the hard way by losing two title races to them. So, if both teams go the distance once again, it will be time for the Gunners to show what they have learned from the past.
