It is no surprise that Arsenal have been dominating every list in existence around this Premier League season.
Arsenal are at the top of the Premier League at the moment, and despite having a few games where they have not looked as convincing as they would have liked.
They have some of the best players in the world at the minute, and three of them have made Jamie Carragher's Premier League team of the season so far.
Of course, it is only halfway through the Premier League at the moment, so this team is not at all definitive, but it gives a good idea of who some of the best players in the league actually are.
In goal, Carragher put Robin Roefs. Daniel Munoz, Marc Guehi, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Riccardo Calafiori made up the defense. Granit Xhaka and Declan Rice were the two pivots, behind Antoine Semenyo, Bruno Fernandes, and Morgan Rogers. Erling Haaland led the offensive line.
To be absolutely fair to Carragher, this list is largely OK. There are some really good mentions here, particularly Granit Xhaka, who has been one of the signings of the season for Sunderland so far.
Jamie Carragher left Jurrien Timber out of his XI, surprisingly
However, Carragher did miss out on one more Arsenal player. I guess he did it solely because he did not want half the XI to be Arsenal players, but this player had to have been included.
Jurrien Timber has been making a genuine case to be the best right-back in the Premier League, and to see him being left out was surprising.
Timber has been one of the most influential right-backs in the Premier League this season, constantly combining with Bukayo Saka on the right to create danger in the attack, before coming back to his bread and butter - which is just sheer defensive quality.
He has been the best defensive right-back in all of Europe this season, and it is surprising that his name was not included.
Even William Saliba wasn't there, but the same logic can be put here, and even more so - the entire XI cannot be Arsenal players. But if I had to include three or four, Timber would definitely be in my starting lineup.
Munoz has been really good, but Timber would've been my pick over both him and Reece James. I do understand why Carragher left his name out - and it was probably not because he does not think he is good - but if there were three Arsenal players there, I would include Timber's name.
