Jose Mourinho is clutching at straws with the Mikel Arteta comparison nobody made

Relax, Jose. We already knew.

If I came on here and said that Real Madrid and Arsenal were held to the same standard, I'd expect to lose my job immediately. Okay, that's a bad example because we are a fan site, after all, but I would certainly lose any credibility, even among the Arsenal fanbase.

Guess what? Real Madrid is a bigger club than Arsenal. That's not exactly groundbreaking news. Bigger clubs are held to a higher standard, especially given the history that Real Madrid has in Europe.

Even the most deluded Arsenal fan in the world knows that Real Madrid is bigger than Arsenal. It's just a comparison that nobody makes... until now.

Jose Mourinho, of all people, has made the completely unnecessary comparison between himself and Mikel Arteta.

Jose Mourinho calls out Mikel Arteta unnecessarily

In a bizarre call-out, Mourinho has demanded that all the attention return to him... He's the special one, remember!

“Yesterday I read something interesting that would not happen at Real Madrid," said Jose. At this point, you'd assume he'd follow up with something from Barcelona or another gigantic club, right? Wrong. He couldn't help but talk about his beloved Arsenal.

"Mikel Arteta renewed his contract, and some said something like, ‘We are still starting, and this is the beginning’, and he has been there for years. You cannot do that at Real Madrid. The demands here are just different."

Breaking news: The sky is blue, the grass is green, the demands at Real Madrid are different to the demands at Arsenal. Like, come on. It would usually be flattering when the Real Madrid manager mentions Arsenal, but Mourinho talks about Arsenal in his sleep.

What Mourinho failed to recognise is that Mikel Arteta is not even six years into his managerial career. Arsenal is his first job. Mourinho, on the other hand, is 26 years into his managerial career, and Real Madrid is his 13th job. So, yeah, the expectations are going to be different. Duh.

I've learned to love hating Mourinho. Rivalry is part of what makes football great, and it's good to see that the specialist in Arsenal obsession is still doing what he does best.

However, he's missed the mark massively here. Literally nobody compared Arsenal to Real Madrid and if they did, I would love to laugh at them.

Nevertheless, we all know Real Madrid can't keep a manager in place for love or money, so let's collectively manifest Mourinho keeping his job until Arsenal faces Real Madrid. That would be a barrel of fun.
