Kai Havertz has an obvious habit Arsenal's rivals should be paying closer attention to

Kai Havertz has been in and out of Arsenal’s starting XI for a while now. The reason may be injuries, the club signing Viktor Gyokeres for a big fee last season, or just poor form.

Those things have happened quite a bit in the last season, and even though it is clear to everyone that the talent is there, they will keep happening. In a squad as good as Arsenal’s, some positions always have players that are too good to be on the bench, which is why consistent rotation is key.

However, there is a big reason why Havertz will almost always get good minutes at Arsenal, despite signing Gyokeres. It’s his knack for scoring big goals, or at least, goals in finals.

If you look at Havertz’s goal scoring history, he has always been known as a player who does not score too many goals for a striker, but does all the other things right to get everyone else as involved in the game as possible.

Kai Havertz is a big-game player, whether you like it or not

Havertz also provides a lot defensively, as he is an intelligent presser who moves around constantly, trying to make opposition defenders as uncomfortable as they possibly can be.

But he also always scores when it matters most. He always provides Arsenal with the goods when it is a final – from the Community Shield in 2026, to the Champions League final a few months before that.

Even when he was at Chelsea, Havertz was the player who won them the final, scoring a great goal against Manchester City and providing Chelsea with their second title in the competition – as much as it pains people to read this, it is true.

For a player who doesn’t have prolific goalscoring numbers, scoring when it matters most so often is impressive and deserves a lot of credit.

The Community Shield is not a huge competition. However, it is still a title that Arsenal won, and it will definitely be important for the team’s mentality, as they finally beat Manchester City convincingly for the first time in over a year.

In that game, too, Havertz scored an important goal, against a pretty good team that has won so many Premier League titles in recent years.

Havertz did not have the best of seasons last time around, missing so many games due to injury. Scoring a Champions League final goal despite that is something that deserves credit. Scoring in a game as important as that is something that even in-form strikers are not able to do.

The Community Shield is not that important, but it was still a final, and it was still against Arsenal’s biggest title rivals of this era, which makes that game, and Havertz’s goalscoring nature, more important than what people think.
