Arsenal's lack of proper goal scorer in attack once again proved the difference in the 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest.
Arsenal's 0-0 draw on the road against Nottingham Forest can be described like most other performances over the past few months - the lack of attacking options is crippling the team.
Once again, this is nothing new, and it brings back into sharp focus the decision not to invest in at least one player to help out Kai Havertz in attack. Now, with the German out for the year, we are seeing what happens when the club sits on its hands.
Mikel Arteta knows what Arsenal is missing after Forest display
Yes, there will likely be circumstances as to why the club didn't invest, and against Forest, 13 shots and just one on target again paint the picture of a team that has all the ingredients it needs to be a title challenger except one - and Mikel Arteta said as much.
"We have another day or two now to think before the PSV game, all the options that we have especially against a team that is in a low block," Arteta said via arsenal.com. "Even if they will arrive, if they will open up, if the opponent will be much better than us then I will probably be in a different state, I know that what’s lacking is that piece up there and I just said, there’s a lot to play for and we need to find the solution to unlock it."

"I know that what’s lacking is that piece up there" is quite the statement, and maybe it is a subtle jag at the club for not bringing in a player when they had a whole month to do so.
Now, Arteta is forced to get creative with wingers and midfielders to finish the Premier League season in the top four. That isn't ideal.
But to hear Arteta say he knows what is lacking shows that at least in the summer, we imagine the Spaniard will be banging the table for a new striker to come in, and we hope that it is to play Champions League.
Arsenal was lucky that Newcastle played Liverpool, and while the Gunners drew, the Magpies lost, meaning the gap between second and fifth is now 10 points.
But in truth, we shouldn't have to be worrying about that. The club should have invested and now even Arteta is stating it publicly.
The frustration might be building.
