Mikel Merino Marouane Fellaini 2.0?

Out of necessity, with Sterling offering nothing, Arteta thrust Merino up top, much like the Fellaini days at Everton. The midfielder made his name with his physical presence and goal-scoring ability. While Merino's header was sublime, his second finish might give hope of a solution up top until Bukayo Saka gets back.

Trossard whipped in a delightful ball, and Merino calmly slotted hit home on his left foot to double the lead. It's not ideal, but Mikel offered far more than Sterling and it is likely that Merino will lead the line against West Ham.
