Nobody said football had to be exciting.

If there was anything that was going to make rival fans hold back tears of anger, it was Arsenal signing another defender.

The Gunners already have the best defence in the world, and Mikel Arteta proved the age-old adage last season that while attack wins you games, defence wins you titles. For some reason, when he does it, it's a footballing sin, but alas.

So, what did Arsenal do? Well, they added another defender to their already-ridiculous squad depth. Ezri Konsa is officially an Arsenal player, having signed from Aston Villa.

We've already run through Arsenal's impressive squad depth with him added to the squad, so let's make an entire starting eleven out of Arsenal's defence. Don't get any ideas, Mikel.

Building an Arsenal lineup out of just their defenders

GK: David Raya. You can't say I'm cheating here by adding a goalkeeper. I mean, it's not like Raya will even need to make saves given what's in front of him.

RB: Jurriën Timber. The second player who keeps his position. There's no need to experiment with Timber; we know what he's capable of at full-back.

CB: Cristhian Mosquera. I could make a case for his height making him a good striker, but that position is sorted. Mr Reliable gets a spot in the defence.

CB: Ezri Konsa. Let's not complicate things for the new arrival. While he is more than capable of playing at right-back, if he's being signed to play as a centre back, then we'll keep him there in this hypothetical world.

LB: Piero Hincapié. The beast. If you're faced with a winger running at you, you'd want Hincapié there to deal with it.

RM: Ben White. Knows how to whip in a cross, and has spent more than enough time overlapping Bukayo Saka to know what he's doing on the right-wing.

CM: William Saliba. As a guy who's ever so composed with the ball at his feet, it's easy to imagine him playing in the midfield. His Rolls-Royce nickname was given to him for a reason... We could see the second coming of Zinedine Zidane here.

CM: Myles-Lewis Skelly. This is a defensive conversion which has already happened. Lewis-Skelly can not only play in the centre midfield position, but he can shine in it.

LM: Riccardo Calafiori. We all saw that composure in front of goal in the Community Shield. In fact, he's got quite the knack for scoring against Man City, so for that alone, he deserves a place further up the field.

ST: Gabriel. There was no other position for Gabriel than striker, right? He's exceptional in the opposition's box, and he knows the feeling of scoring all too well. Plus, if we keep him scoring the goals, it saves other players from getting screamed at in celebration.

ST: Kepa Arrizabalaga. Goalkeepers are defenders, too! Look, I'm not even going to try to justify this one. I just want him as far away from the goal as physically possible.
