Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by Manchester United at Old Trafford as they failed to win in the Premier League for the third consecutive game.

Mikel Arteta made just one change to the side that thrashed PSV 7-1, bringing in Riccardo Calafiori in place of Myles Lewis-Skelly at left back.

The Gunners dominated the opening stages in terms of possession but were limited to a few potshots from the edge of the box while most of United's threat came on the counterattack.

Despite being on the back foot, it was the hosts who took the lead on the stroke of half-time. Leandro Trossard brought down Alejandro Garnacho to present United a chance from a free kick 25 yards out, which Bruno Fernandes kindly accepted with a fine strike.

United went close to doubling their lead soon after the break when Noussair Mazraoui had a chance from close range but he was denied by the foot of David Raya.

Arsenal pushed and pushed for a leveller and it came with just under 15 minutes remaining when Jurrien Timber played a low pass to Declan Rice who fired in a brilliant first-time effort from the edge of the box.

Rice was then required to intervene at the back when Rasmus Hojlund robbed the ball off Mikel Merino before being thwarted by a brilliant slide tackle by the England international. United went close to winning it again in stoppage time but a brilliant save from Raya kept it out.

The two sides fought out the final minutes to share the points as Arsenal remain second, four points clear of third-placed Nottingham Forest.

Here are the Arsenal player ratings from their 1-1 draw at Man United.

Goalkeeper & Defenders

David Raya (GK) - 7/10 - Showcased questionable positioning for Fernandes' free kick opener. Made up for it with a brilliant save to deny Mazraoui from point-blank range. Made another great stop in the final moments to deny Fernandes a certain winner.

Jurrien Timber (RB) - 7/10 - Defended well but was allowed chances to get up the pitch due to United's lack of threat. Played some nice passes and provided the assist for Rice's leveller.

William Saliba (CB) - 7/10 - Didn't have too do much but what he did do, he did well. Standard solid showing from the Frenchman.

Gabriel Magalhaes (CB) - 7/10 - Made a really good tackle to take the ball off Hojlund's feet in the closing stages. Good all-round performance at the back.

Riccardo Calafiori (LB) - 6/10 - Got up the pitch and tried to help out in attack but struggled when dealing with the pace of Garnacho on the break. Withdrawn just before the hour mark.
