Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta talked about just how much more comfortable Eberechi Eze now feels in an Arsenal shirt after his performance against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Arsenal were 2-0 victors on the night against a quite disappointing Leverkusen side, who looked much better in the first leg than they did in the second.

A phenomenal goal from Eberechi Eze, followed by another clean hit from Declan Rice ensured that Arsenal were able to qualify for the next round, where they will face Sporting.

Arteta was asked about Eze's performance, and whether he looked more in rhythm and settled in than he has in his first few months at the club, to which he gave a very interesting reply.

Mikel Arteta just said what every Arsenal fan has realised about Eberechi Eze

He said: "I think he's building a better chemistry, a better understanding with all of them, and we start to understand him much better and then, yes.

"When you start to make a good game, a good action - an action that can win you the game - that lifts your confidence as well, and that's what every player needs.

"Yes, he is playing I think every three days now, he has a rhythm, an understanding with his teammates as well, what we want, and especially his level of activity, with and without the ball - in the spaces that he moves and the purpose that he's showing every time he's in and around the box as well.

"It's a reason why he's here - to create those kind of moments."

Eze definitely looked much better than he has in the last few months against Bayer Leverkusen in the second leg. In a way, he looked freer and more dangerous, which is exactly what Arteta and Eze's teammates have been waiting for.

Eze's mannerisms on the pitch, how 'in the zone' he really was - it all showed perfectly in one of Arsenal's more important games of the last few weeks.

Gone are the days where Eze would only score against Tottenham Hotspur or Crystal Palace. The Englishman is finding much-needed consistency in his game, and that is what Arteta has been looking for.

There are still things to improve on. Eze needs to show this version of himself in every single game until the end of the season if Arsenal are to win everything they intend to win.

Without his game-changing performances, the attack just would not unlock as easily, meaning Arsenal would find it difficult to score goals once again.

It is also important to just talk about the goal. A bullet. It was a perfect reflection of how Eze should play. That goal was purely instinctive, and that is exactly when Eze usually is at his best.
