Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta revealed their goal is to create a dynasty at the football club.
This is what Arteta said after Arsenal's friendly loss to Real Betis on Wednesday night, where, although the team didn't look particularly great, the focus was always going to be on the fitness of the players and how many more minutes they were given on the pitch, which was, at the end of the day, successful.
Arteta won the Premier League with Arsenal for the first time in his tenure at the club last season, and it was one of the best things that has happened to Arsenal this century.
Obviously, now they are at a point where they are still the best team in the league, and the focus is now on being able to maintain the level they had last season and try to win the Premier League again.
But not just that. They also want to win other trophies.
A dynasty is possible for Arsenal in this era
Arteta was asked about that after the game, and he talked about how excited he was to fulfil the ambition that the club has, as well as being able to create a dynasty.
He said: "We’re going to go and attack every possible title, because that’s the ambition that we have. We know that we have the ability. We will go from strength to strength as well, whether it’s with the players that we have, to take them to a different level, or with the market that is still open to recruit as well. So yeah, very optimistic about it.
"All the work that we’ve done - that I’ve done through the summer - is to understand what we need to do to win again and to create a dynasty in this football club. That’s the aim."
Arsenal are at a point where they can create a dynasty because every other big team in the league is currently struggling to compete with them for one reason or another.
Manchester City have a new manager and will see a lot of big departures from the club this summer. Chelsea also have a new manager and have not really been in a position to compete for the league. Manchester United will now have to worry about European football, even though they have improved.
Tottenham, despite signing so many players, are still a club that finished 17th last season, so seeing them fight for the league throughout the season is going to be very difficult. Liverpool have just lost Mohamed Salah, and they have still yet to replace him or sign a few players that they need.
This leaves Arsenal as the only club that is genuinely ready to go for the title again, and it is the best opportunity they have had to build a dynasty in the Premier League.
Arteta has obviously been working throughout the summer to identify Arsenal's weaknesses and improve them. They have signed a few players, and they will try to sign a few more before the end of the transfer window.
It just goes to show that despite winning the league, Arsenal are clearly not done. They still need to sign players, they still need to improve as a team, and they need to work hard so that they are able to fulfill the promise they have made to themselves, which is to finally build a dynasty.
