Arsenal's defense has been more than just rock-solid this season, and that has resulted in them winning all but two of their games this season.

They have only conceded three goals in 15 games so far, which is unbelievable to think about, especially after the win over Burnley, because it keeps getting better.

Arsenal used to get a lot of credit for their defense last season and a couple of years before that as well, but even Arsenal's rival fans will agree that this is a step up from even that.

Arteta has turned this team into the best defense in the world, and if they carry on like this, there is no limit to what they can achieve this season.

They have upgraded their defense by not just adding depth, but also just being more resilient, while also improving their midfield and attack.

Arsenal players just love tracking back after a loss of possession

There is one factor, though, that no one is thinking about when it comes to Arsenal's seemingly inpenetrable defense.

It is not just the firepower they have at the back, but it is also the way every single player wants to run back to defend their goal with their life.

Mikel Arteta, the instigator, touched on this in a recent interview, which was worth noting.

He said: “I think the spirit is an action at the end, after a corner from Declan that Ethan doesn't win the duel there and you see 10 players sprinting 80 metres.

"We play with that desire, with that focus, with that discipline. We'll win a lot of games.”

That is spot on. It is not just the system Arteta has put through the minds of all Arsenal players. It is not just their Arsenal of fantastic defenders, with depth in every position.

It is also not just their solid, two-way midfield that fights to win every single duel through their physicality and footballing IQ.

It is a combination of all those things, plus the entire team's will to come back and defend. Conceding just three goals in 15 games is bonkers, even for a defensive juggernaut like Arsenal, and running back and defending instantly after losing the ball is a huge part of it.

Arsenal still have work to do. In the two games where they have faced potential title challengers, they have conceded two goals. But, one could argue Arsenal have improved since then, both defensively and offensively.

So, it would be interesting to see the next time these lads play a big game - both for the fans and for the team to see how far they have come.
