The most impressive part of Viktor Gyökeres' performance vs Atleti was not his brace

Arsenal really did wonders against Atlético Madrid on Tuesday night. Beating the Spanish giants is difficult enough, but putting four past their defense deserves more credit than what Arsenal is getting at the moment.

Arsenal is one of the best teams in Europe, and they are well on their way to winning it all if they keep going the way they did against Atlético. Arsenal kept knocking on the away side's door and knew that a breakthrough would come sooner rather than later.

And it did. Gabriel headed the ball in and scored their first, and a brace from Victor Gyökeres scored a brace towards the end of the match to really make it a drubbing by the English giants.

Gyökeres has not had the best output for Arsenal, as he is still taking his time settling in at the club. It makes perfect sense. It is a new league, new team, new system, so it should take some time for the player to gel with his teammates.

Gyökeres won the most duels for any Arsenal player on the night

Gyökeres was fantastic on the night, though, and most people will give him a lot of credit for scoring two goals in a big game. Rightfully so, that is something he has received criticism for earlier in the season.

But it was not just the goals. Gyökeres was good regardless of the two goals he scored, and not many people will realise that just because he is 'supposed' to be scoring.

Gyökeres actually helps Arsenal in more ways than one, and against Atleti, Arsenal really needed his physicality up front.

Going up against tall, physical defenders is always hard, and yet, Gyökeres took the challenge and happily obliged. He won the most duels for an Arsenal player on Tuesday night - five, to be exact - and there won't be many people who talk about it.

Gyökeres only had 27 touches on the night, which is not a lot. But he did a lot with those 27 touches. He won three fouls, took three shots - all of them on target, two of them inside the net - and just tried his best to impose himself physically.

Let's be clear: there is still a lot more to see from Gyökeres. He still was not at his absolute best. That will come with small steps, and this was one of them. Even in a game where he did not have the most involvement, Gyökeres knew his job and did it well.
