Arsenal was dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Newcastle. In both ties, Mikel Arteta's side was handily beaten by Eddie Howe's team.

The one thing that Arsenal couldn't have happen at St. James' Park in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi final was an early Newcastle goal and just two minutes in Jacob Murphy slotted home to end the game as a contest after Martin Odegaard missed a big chance minutes earlier.

The manner in which the Gunners were defeated shows the need for a break which the team will now get before facing Leicester City next in the Premier League.
