Arsenal player Piero Hincapie claims that he is learning a lot from fellow Arsenal defenders Gabriel and William Saliba during his first season at the club.

Despite only being in the country for less than a year, it feels like Hincapie has been around at the club for a very long time. He has become one of the most important players for this team in a very short span of time.

He has taken advantage of the situations that have presented themselves to him in terms of injuries to other players and being able to play in multiple positions in subsequent games.

Hincapie has earned the trust of manager Mikel Arteta, and he is now starting in many games for the Gunners this season.

Hincapie recently talked about just how much he is learning from these players, as he said: "They’re such brilliant team-mates. I’m learning so much from them. They’ve played together here for a long time. They’ve developed a wonderful understanding and I just hope I can make the most of playing with them and enjoy success together.”

It is a loan option, but Arsenal will undoubtedly sign the player on a permanent basis. He still had really good teammates at Bayer Leverkusen. However, now there is an obvious rise in quality from Leverkusen to Arsenal, with all due respect, and Hincapie is now reaping the rewards.

There is so much that the player is learning from his teammates, and he has improved as the season has gone on. He has played well at left-back, he has also played well at centre-back, and his comfort with the ball gives Arteta so many options going forward as well.

There are a few things that he has to improve on, but it is clear that learning from incredible players like Gabriel and Saliba can only help you, not only in the short term, but also in the long term. Hincapie is one of the best examples of players taking full advantage of these opportunities.

Let’s not act like Hincapie was a nobody before he joined Arsenal. Obviously, he was still a really good player, but it seems like he has taken his level up a notch since joining the North London side in September.

It remains to be seen what Arteta goes for when every single player is fit, because having Riccardo Calafiori around could also put Hincapie's position in the starting XI in danger. But Hincapie is making a really good case for himself to be the number one starter either way, and that is down to him learning from his manager and his peers and consistently improving day by day.
