Positive #2: Eze makes his mark

Not starting with Eze looked like a needlessly safety first measure from Arteta. The braver move was to immediately involve the mercurial attacker who possesses the pace, touch and vision to manufacture a chance at any moment.
Eze chose his moment brilliantly when he looked up and anticipated the subtle yet decisive move from Martinelli. What the run needed was the right pass, and Eze duly delivered by lofting a ball over the top with just the right pace and weight to free Martinelli, but also give the forward time to pick his spot.
Those are the things a good provider has to take into account before releasing the ball. Eze showed he has the intuition of a true No. 10, something this Arsenal team desperately needs to freshen up a stale way of getting forward.
Better movement and committing more numbers where it counts are important, but not as significant as Arteta putting enough creative types onto the pitch. It should mean plenty of Eze and Odegaard playing together this season.
Eze won't get to make central spaces his own private kingdom once Odegaard is fully fit, but drifting in from the left to support the skipper is how the former Crystal Palace man transforms the Gunners' attacking play and ultimately their Premier League title push.
