Eberechi Eze registered his first goal in an Arsenal shirt as the Gunners swept aside a resolute and well organised Port Vale side at Vale Park tonight.

Arsenal started brightly and went ahead early in the first half through Eberechi Eze. Intricate play between Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri created the space for Eze to finish in style.

Port Vale dug in and made it difficult for Arsenal whose short passing was easy on the eye but failed to create many clear cut chances.

The Gunners were made to wait until late on to wrap this tie up. Arteta stretched the play by replacing Mikel Merino with Viktor Gyökeres and taking Eze out of the action.

As a result, a long ball out of defence found Leandro Trossard in space to finish with a powerful low drive.

Positive #1: Eberechi Eze registers first of the season

Eberechi Eze is clearly loving his new role in the absence of Martin Odegaard. His opening goal came as the result of some intricate inter-passing in and around the penalty area; something which has been missing so far this campaign.

Arsenal's movement was great as Gabriel Martinelli dribbled in from the left and attempted a give and go with Ethan Nwaneri. Nwaneri showed great awareness to let the ball run through to Eze who had continued his run into the box.

As the ball ran across him, Eze opened his body and slid the ball right footed into the net.

Alongside Nwaneri and Christian Norgaard, Arsenal dominated possession with Eze pulling the strings.
