Well, there we are. 2023/24 is in the books.

From Nurnberg in the summer all the way up until Everton at home, it's been quite the journey for Mikel Arteta's Gunners. It ended without silverware, but a monster 89-point Premier League haul pointed towards progress.

Their time will come.

At the end of every month throughout the season, we've handed out our Player of the Month award based on the player ratings we dished out. May's the last award we're handing out in 2023/24.

It was a much shorter month compared to April, with Arsenal playing just three times to conclude their impressive campaign. Two starts were required to qualify, and here's who made the podium.

3. Martin Odegaard (Average rating - 7.16)

Despite failing to match his impressive productivity from 2022/23, Martin Odegaard has been the star of 2024 for the Gunners.

Odegaard seemingly dazzled us with his slick brilliance on a weekly basis, and imagining this Arsenal side without him is a borderline dystopian thought. He makes the Gunners purr.

The skipper was quiet at Old Trafford, but he recorded two assists - surely he didn't mean his second for Havertz against Everton, right? - and starred in the 3-0 victory over Bournemouth.

Odegaard found goals to hard to come by down the stretch, but his influence was almost always felt.

2. Kai Havertz (Average rating - 7.33)

Nobody came on stronger as the season progressed than Kai Havertz. The German struggled to find his feet as a Granit Xhaka replacement before finding life while working off Gabriel Jesus in the winter.

He's been reborn since emerging as Arsenal's leading man up top after the winter break.

The German ended the season strongly, too, as he scored the club's final goal of the season to seal a 2-1 win over Everton on the final day. Before that, he'd teed up Leandro Trossard for the game's only goal at Old Trafford.

Havertz was a menace during the run-in, and his form has given the club plenty to think about in regards to their summer transfer priorities.

1. William Saliba (Average rating - 8.16)

There were points in the season when Saliba dipped below his usual supreme level and, on the balance, I'd argue his centre-back partner had a better campaign than him.

However, Saliba was magnificent in May, reminding us all that he's the best centre-back talent in the game.

We saw his ability to cope with excellent channel-runners against Bournemouth, before his capacity to sit deep and contain manifested at Old Trafford. Those two performances warranted huge ratings, and for the first time since September, Wilo is our Player of the Month.
