10 players who improved after leaving Arsenal
By Kian Long
5. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain spent 13 years in England, before he eventually moved to Besiktas in 2023. The Southampton academy graduate moved to Arsenal in 2011 and spent six great years developing under Arsene Wenger.
In truth, it's difficult to pinpoint where his favoured position for Arsenal was since he played as a winger, midfielder and even a full-back at times. My best memories of Oxlade-Chamberlain were when he played on the wing, since he was rapid and had a great footballing intelligence - A rarity for young wingers.
He left Arsenal in 2017, signing for Liverpool. He spent six years at Anfield and made a real name for himself there. Although he wasn't a sure starter and he did have injury concerns, he made 103 league appearances, scoring 11 goals. For context, he only scored 9 league goals with Arsenal, despite playing more games.
He might've won three FA Cups with Arsenal, but he won the Premier League and the Champions League when he was at Liverpool. A great career and a player who can be remembered fondly by both sets of fans.
