Given the incredible career he had after leaving, not many people know that Andy Cole actually started his career with Arsenal. The English legend who won everything there was to win at club level was an Arsenal academy graduate, who spent three seasons in the first team.
However, he only made one league appearance during this time. Cole was then sold to Bristol City for £500,000. Yes, you did read that right and no, I did not miss off any zeros. One of the most prolific strikers of all-time being sold for just £500,000 is astonishing, even when you factor in inflation.
Then again, nobody knew Cole would go on to become the big-hitter he was. Mostly known for his time with arch-rivals Manchester United where he won five Premier League titles and the Champions League, Cole is one of the greatest strikers of all-time. Still, Arsene Wenger probably won't lose much sleep, since Ian Wright was also banging in goals at the same time.
