Con #1 - The player has hefty wages
A talented player of this calibre is available on loan, what could go wrong? Actually, there is a catch, and a couple to be precise. The first is related to why exactly Bayern Munich are looking to shift him off the books - Coman is reportedly among the club's highest-paid players.
Bearing in mind his 17 appearances last season, the Frenchman's role at the Allianz Arena is currently massively overstated by his paycheck.
For what could be roughly £280,000 a week, the wages pose a big commitment. In fact, that figure would position Coman as around about the same level as Kai Havertz - the highest-earning Arsenal player.
Of course, there is always the prospect of negotiating a split between both clubs, but even in spite of that, Arsenal are looking at adding a fairly considerable chunk to their weekly bill.
Con #2 - Injury history is discouraging
Another vital drawback to chasing a deal for Coman is his precarious injury record. Just last campaign, he was sidelined for 21 games and this struggles to stand out amidst the winger's totals across his last nine seasons. Even more worryingly so, each unavailability is related to a varying injury instance, with reasons ranging from muscular problems to torn ligaments.
Arsenal fans have already seen first-hand the effects of players who are heavily susceptible to injuries. Take Takehiro Tomiyasu, Emile Smith Rowe and Thomas Partey as examples - all players with fantastic talent but their fitness misfortunes have slowed their progress.
So in effect, the excitement of a signing like Coman may just inevitably fuel more frustration if his injuries were to kick in again. This, in tandem with his high wages, means he may not be as enticing a transfer as initially thought. Ultimately, it depends on who the club identifies as an ideal target, and whether the need for a reinforcement/makeshift solution necessitates the signing of the Bayern Munich forward.
