2. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joined the club from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 as Arsene Wenger’s final signing. The Gabon international hit the ground running and quickly became one of the most dangerous strikers in the league. 

He scored 22 goals in his first full Premier League season, adding to the previous ten he had registered at the back end of the previous season, to win the Golden Boot. This was the first time an Arsenal player had won the Golden Boot since a certain Dutchman.

Aubameyang scored 22 in the league the following year, missing out on back-to-back Golden Boots by one goal. During his time at the club, Aubameyang scored 92 goals in 163 games and won the FA Cup and Community Shield.

The striker was named captain in 2019 but the good times weren’t meant to last. Eventually, the goals dried up and after multiple disciplinary breaches under new manager Mikel Arteta, Aubameyang was stripped of the captain’s armband and left the club in 2022.
