Positive #2: Arsenal's set-piece intelligence

Nicolas Jover's legend grows after the 1001st (or thereabouts) goal-producing corner for Arsenal. Arteta's set-piece guru outsmarted City by consistently freeing his best header of the ball.

The idea was simple in theory, but devastating in its execution. To create a crowd in one side of the area and leave Gabriel marked one-on-one on the other side, an obvious win for the Gunners.

So it proved when the burly Brazilian ran off Doku, but put a header over when he should have scored. City tried to heed the warning by having Kyle Walker take Doku's man-marking assignment, but no matter.

Gabriel still escaped and couldn't miss this time.

Gabriel's runs met Bukayo Saka's teasing crosses aimed right at the six-yard line. This was cute mastery of the one thing this Arsenal side does best. Bravo.

Negative #2: Inconsistent refereeing

Trossard did himself no favours, but when are Arsenal going to see rules applied consistently by referees? It didn't happen Sunday, not when Doku escaped a booking for kicking the ball away in the first half, but the Arsenal man wasn't as fortunate.

Oliver gave Trossard his marching orders for "delaying the restart," according to the Premier League Match Centre, so there's no uncertainty about why Arsenal played the second half with 10.

The discrepency is why Arsenal can complain. Why Rice could raise an eyebrow in disbelief.

Ironically, Oliver's decision to show a red card to an Arsenal player for the seventh time in his career is also why this can feel (sort of) like a point gained.
