3 positives & negatives from Arsenal's 3-0 home win over Bournemouth

Arsenal kept top spot in the Premier League after securing a comfortable 3-0 home win over an in-form AFC Bournemouth side.

Many had billed this as the Gunners' toughest game remaining in the Premier League, which was understandable given that Andoni Iraola's side had lost just two league games since February before today.

Despite this, and the negative impacts of an early Saturday kickoff, it was a comfortable result in the end, but things did not always look plain sailing for the hosts.

After such an important win, here's a look at the positives and negatives from the game.

Positive #1: A touching tribute

Some things are bigger than football, and the first, and biggest, positive from the game for me was seeing a footballing family unite to honour a young fan who lost his life in tragic circumstances earlier in the week.

14-year-old Daniel Anjorin was fatally stabbed by a sword-wielding attacker in London last week, in what was a tragic loss of life at such a young age.

It was revealed that Daniel was an Arsenal fan, which led to fans, almost immediately, launching a campaign on social media to have the youngster's life honoured at the game.

It was truly touching to see the entire stadium unite in applause for him in the 14th minute, symbolic of his age, as well as a large banner and his image on the big screen at the stadium too.

After such a tragic event, it was amazing to see the club listen to supporters and honour Daniel and, while it is unlikely to heal the pain caused by his passing, it was hopefully a nice moment for those who knew him too.

Negative #1: Signs of offensive profligacy persist

First of all, I would like to make clear that I am not singling out Martin Ødegaard for this point, it is simply a fitting photo...

What I am doing is once again highlighting the frustrating profligacy shown by Arsenal at times throughout the Bournemouth win.

Before Saka's penalty at the end of the first half, the Gunners should have been two, if not three, goals to the good, and this trend continued for moments in the second half too.

Arsenal's need to sign a striker could not be more apparent, and we can only hope that this is achieved, as a priority, in the upcoming summer transfer window.
