Positive #2: Electrifying atmosphere
A sold-out Emirates Stadium is one thing, but when an away fan ban sees the away section allocated to Arsenal, the noise inside the stadium was simply electric.
The crowd were behind the team from minute one and carried Arteta's side through the difficult moments during the game, which could prove huge after next week's second leg.
Arteta spoke before the game about the importance of the fans, and the Gunners faithful did not disappoint.
Negative #2: A defensive calamity
Before tonight, Arsenal had conceded just four goals in 2024, though they have now increased this tally by 50 per cent by conceding twice against the German giants.
Bayern Munich's equaliser, courtesy of former Gunner Gnabry, was a gift that resulted from a defensive mistake between David Raya, Jakub Kiwior and Gabriel Magalhaes.
Such errors have become a scarce rarity in Arsenal's games in recent months, but there were moments of real concern defensively in this game.
Despite this, there were also some exceptional defensive moments, like when Ben White combined with Martin Ødegaard to deny Leroy Sane on a breakaway chance.
The error can probably be largely attributed to nerves and inexperience at this stage of European competition, but it is a sight that no Arsenal fans will want to see again any time soon having seen it be so costly in this game.
