Positive #2: Old Trafford curse finally lifted

Before this game, Arsenal had not won a Premier League game at Old Trafford, in front of a crowd, since 2006 - 18 years ago!

The only exception to this was during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the Gunners grabbed another 1-0 win in November 2020 - when crowds were not allowed in stadiums.

This had been labelled as the 'Old Trafford Curse' by many football, and especially Arsenal, fans, and something that the club had been desperate to overturn in recent years.

Regardless of the performance itself, where Arsenal were still the better side anyway, the result is symbolic of the new era under Arteta at Arsenal, which promises so much success in the near and long-term future.


Negative #2: Sub-par Thomas Partey showing

While I hate singling out poor performances, Thomas Partey had an afternoon that he will be keen to forget quickly.

Individual errors and a general lack of impact in the game had many fans sweating whenever the ball went near him, which will remind some of Arsenal teams from years gone by.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for a top midfielder this summer, and Partey's display at Old Trafford will do little to dissuade the Arsenal hierarchy of this idea.
