There were some suggestions that Kai Havertz's form in a striker position could deter Arsenal from splashing out on a new #9 this summer. I find that hard to believe.

The Gunners will be signing their leading man, and they'll undoubtedly consider a multitude of options. Victor Osimhen, Dusan Vlahovic, Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, Ivan Toney, etc, etc... you've seen the names before. They're cool, but give me Alexander Isak.

We've seen Isak star against the very best since he rocked up on Tyneside, and perhaps it was his brace against Tottenham which convinced me that the Swede has to be our guy.

He's no Thierry Henry, but the stylistic comparisons are valid. The striker's such a fluid mover who makes channel-running look oh-so effortless. Isak can go from 0-60 in a blink of an eye, with such searing acceleration rendering him a tremendous threat on the counter. While Arsenal often find themselves facing up against deep-lying defences, there's no denying that Arteta's side must become more proficient in transition against top teams.

Isak's arrival would serve as a massive boost on that front.

In short, the Swedish striker boasts the profile of an elite winger but he's equally majestic functioning as the leading man. His movement constantly allows him to find pockets of space in the opposition's box, and there's no denying the poacher's touch in him.

There are a lot of fine forward options out there, but Isak, even if he comes at a premium price, comes with minimal risk.
