3 realistic free agents Arsenal could sign in 2024

3. Ben Johnson (West Ham)

West Ham youngster Ben Johnson is running out of contract for the Irons this season. According to Football FanCast, West Ham are pushing to keep him by extending his current contract but the defender has already rejected two contract offers, meaning he is likely to be on the move as a free agent in the summer of 2024.

While there have been no concrete reports linking Arsenal with a move for Johnson, it wouldn't surprise me if there were. After all, Johnson is a Londoner who still has a lot ahead of him in his career. He is primarily a right-back, who could also play as a left-back or even a winger, if needed.

We all know how much Mikel Arteta loves versatility in his players, as he has actively encouraged a few Arsenal players to push themselves out of their comfort zones. Bringing in Johnson as a free agent would only increase the versatility and malleability of the squad. Time will tell if Arteta discovers this, but Johnson would certainly fit in.
