2. Tough lesson learned

A Champions League quarter-final is not the place to learn tough lessons, but that was the case for Arsenal against Bayern. Given their eagerness to hit on the counter attack, Munich would have been hoping Arsenal's defenders would slip up and make a mistake, and that is exactly what happened.

Both of Bayern's goals came from defensive errors by the Gunners. The away side's equalizer came as a result of David Raya being too far out of his goal and thus not being a viable option for an under-pressure Gabriel, prompting the Brazilian to present the opposition with the ball. Bayern's second came from the penalty spot after Leroy Sane got past Jakub Kiwior far too easily and stormed toward the Arsenal defense, eventually being brought down by William Saliba.

The Arsenal squad will have learned from this result that there is no room for sloppy mistakes at this competitive level. This is another step in the journey for this young Gunners side, and they will be prepared to correct this and have their heads screwed on from minute one in next week's second leg.
