Since joining Arsenal in 2019, Mikel Arteta has been extremely ruthless in certain situations. This was demonstrated in the way that players such as Mesut Ozil, Matteo Guendouzi and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all left the club.

The Gunners boss has also been ruthless in his search for the 'perfect' goalkeeper. He chose to keep Bernd Leno over Emiliano Martinez in 2020, only to replace the German with Aaron Ramsdale a year later. Ramsdale himself was then replaced by Raya this season.

When making these decisions, Arteta no doubt has the best interests of the club in mind so obviously wants the team to have a top quality goalkeeper.
