Nico Williams is on the Arsenal transfer shortlist. However, he is a more premium and less realistic option for Mikel Arteta, since Williams prefers Barcelona over Arsenal. This is understandable, since Williams knows La Liga best and he's been harbouring hopes of a Barcelona transfer since he first broke through in Spain.

That said, it's not too late for Nico Williams to change his mind. After all, there is still plenty of time in the summer transfer window. Perhaps Williams doesn't know enough about Arsenal, hence his preference to stay in La Liga.

With that in mind and with Arsenal still clinging onto optimism about convincing Nico Williams, here are 3 big pull factors about joining Arsenal which could act as reasons why Nico Williams must choose an Arsenal transfer over Barcelona...

1. A young manager with a fresh approach

Love him or hate him, nobody can deny that it's refreshing to see a young manager, in his first manager role, take a team from strength to strength. Mikel Arteta certainly fits into that description as he has single-handedly taken on the Arsenal head coach role, performing better than expectation and getting Arsenal back on the right track.

The fresh approach which Mikel Arteta takes is not being afraid to challenge tradition and set new trends in the landscape of the sport. Time and time again, he has made decisions which traditionalists hated, but ended up benefitting the club. For example, signing David Raya to replace Aaron Ramsdale and giving Granit Xhaka a second chance after cussing the fans.

The exciting project led by Mikel Arteta should certainly inspire Nico Williams to join Arsenal. Speaking of...

2. A big fish in a (relatively) little pond

Nico Williams would be one of the primary players at Arsenal, almost instantly. While Arsenal are certainly on the right trajectory, it will take time before their squad is considered world-class. Despite hosting some incredible players such as Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and William Saliba, the squad is not held in as high-regard as Barcelona.

This only gives more room for Nico Williams to become a star. While players seek team success, individual success should always be encouraged too. At Arsenal, Nico Williams would be encouraged to use his ego to benefit Arsenal. For the improvement of team, Nico Williams has the potential to become top dog at Arsenal, among a calibre of other exceptional talent yet to be recognised.

3. A club with huge ambition

Saying this five years ago would have made you look silly but in a bizarre twist of fortune, Arsenal are closer to winning the Premier League title than Barcelona are to winning La Liga.

While both clubs play second fiddle to the league's most dominant force, Arsenal are edging closer to catching up with Manchester City whereas it must be said that Barcelona are only drifting further away from Real Madrid.

That said, Arsenal have gone much longer without winning a league title. This only adds fuel to the fire, which every Arsenal player collectively feels. Nico Williams has a huge opportunity to be the catalyst to Arsenal winning the Premier League title for the first time since the Invinvibles, an achievement which would be celebrated to an extreme degree by every Arsenal fan.
