Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League and will face their toughest test on Sunday with a trip to title rivals Manchester City. While it is a difficult trip, the Gunners could certainly come away with a good result.

The Gunners sit above second-placed Liverpool only on goal difference and are one point ahead of Man City. They have a chance to pull away from both rivals if they secure three points at the Etihad Stadium and if they succeed in this, they will be Premier League champions at the end of the season.

1. Banishing old demons

Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal once had a habit of falling to their positional rivals. Towards the end of the 2021/22 season, the Gunners lost out on a place in the Champions League to Tottenham following a 3-0 defeat away to their main rivals. This was also the case last season as Arteta's side fell to Manchester City both home and away. A win against City in either of these games would have seen them win the league title.

The Gunners look to have changed that this season and will hope to continue this on Sunday. Arsenal secured their first victory over Manchester City since 2015 with a 1-0 win at the Emirates in October, seemingly putting last season's sorrows behind them.

Arteta's side have also taken four points off their other title rival, Liverpool, this season. Arsenal came away from Anfield with a 1-1 draw in December before overcoming Jurgen Klopp's side 3-1 in the return fixture at Emirates Stadium. Having snatched seven out of a possible nine points from their title rivals so far this season, another win on Sunday will allow the Gunners to fully banish their old demons and win their first title in 20 years.
