Gabriel is often the unsung hero of Arsenal’s central spine. The Brazilian consistently performs at the highest level alongside his fellow centre-back and today was no exception.

Saliba and Gabriel performed an effective double act against Haaland, with one going tight and the other behind to pick up the pieces. The Norwegian forward was left with almost nothing and for the third time this season, failed to register a single shot on target against the Gunners.

Whilst less successful than his partner in his duels, the Brazilian had a 100% tackle success rate and made four vital clearances. As well as this, Gabriel also had an 85% pass success rate.

The two centre-backs were the key reason for the result. Arsenal’s defence was simply unbreakable.
