Arsenal’s captain Martin Odegaard was once again an essential piece of the puzzle at the top end of the pitch as he set the tone for the rest of the team.

He looked calm on the ball and helped to settle his fellow teammates, helping to ease some of the nerves on the pitch. It was not a perfect performance from the Gunners in the final third but Odegaard remained calm and helped to carve out attacks.

The Norwegian created five chances and maintained a pass success rate of 88% but it was his defensive work where he really shone above the rest. Odegaard’s pressing and tracking of his man was essential in getting his team on the front foot.

Alongside Ben White, Odegaard helped save the game when Leroy Sane was through on goal to make it 3-1. It was an excellent recovery from the midfielder which allowed Ben White to get back and make the block.
