Arsenal put in another strong performance on the road, putting three past Brighton and re–claiming the top spot of the Premier League table.

Brighton started quickly and had the better of the ball in the opening five minutes but could not fashion a dangerous goalscoring opportunity. The visitors grew into the game and spurned multiple chances which on another day could have seen them three or four goals to the good inside 20 minutes.

However, the Gunners finally broke the deadlock through Bukayo Saka from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute. Gabriel Jesus won the spot-kick after being tripped by Tariq Lamptey and Saka confidently put the ball into the net.

Kai Havertz doubled the scoreline in the 62nd minute, turning in Jorginho’s cross from the by-line before Leandro Trossard made it three to haunt his former club on his return to the Amex stadium.

When Kai Havertz joined the club in the summer, many people were quick to judge the signing and claimed that the German was a waste of money. Since then, Havertz has gone from strength to strength and has become an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s starting 11.

Havertz was once again instrumental in the centre-forward role against Brighton. His hold up play was excellent and he found himself in behind the Brighton backline on multiple occasions.

He was rewarded for his hard work with another goal and an assist. After breaking his Premier League record for goal involvements in midweek, Havertz’s goal at the Amex means that this is his most prolific season in front of goal.

Despite playing as the main striker, Havertz was still willing to put in a defensive shift which was highlighted when he sprinted the length of the pitch to fill in at right-back.
