3. Kai Havertz

Kai Havertz was pushed back to midfield against Aston Villa to facilitate the return of Gabriel Jesus to the starting 11.

That did not stop Havertz from putting in another top performance, especially in the first half. The German was aggressive in the press and unfortunate to concede a few fouls which otherwise would have set the Gunners on the attack.

Havertz repeatedly found space in behind the Aston Villa defence but a mixture of a bad pass or bad decision-making meant that this week the German was unable to add to his goal contributions.

Considering Havertz's run had worked so well in the first half, it is surprising that Arsenal did not try to exploit it in the second half because at one stage it seemed inevitable that his run would eventually lead to a goal. Instead the Gunners must forget the result and turn full focus onto their Champions League tie with Bayern Munich.
