2. Arteta takes blame

Much like after the Aston Villa defeat, decisions made by Mikel Arteta have been brought into question, surrounding both the starting lineup as well as in-game management.

Fans online seemed particularly bemused by his distinct lack of substitutes (he used just three out of a possible five), in a game that many players on the bench felt perfectly suited for.

Players like Oleksandr Zinchenko and Emile Smith Rowe, who could have offered some much-needed attacking flair were not given so much as a minute, while Thomas Partey, among others, was also an unused substitute.

Arteta faced similar criticism after the Aston Villa defeat and, while calls for his head a very premature and drastic, in my opinion, it is an area that he clearly needs to work on, which you imagine will come with experience.
