3 ways Arsenal can get their season back on track

  • Arsenal are winless in their last three games
  • Aston Villa loss took the Premier League title out of their hands
  • Champions League exit means the Gunners have one trophy to play for

3. Stop overthinking in the final third

It is part of the Arsenal DNA and becomes painfully clear at vital junctures.

Unpragmatic methods do bear great, offensive advantages like enabling final-third turnovers and granting the team more choice when looking for someone in the box to score; things which may not materialise if the handbrake is on.

However, the Gunners so often take an extra touch, play another pass or simply pick the wrong option/execute poorly whenever they find themselves on promising attacks and, consequently, fail to make their good work count (looking at you, Gabriel Martinelli…).

Such inefficiency is not for the want of quality as this team has scored 75 league goals (one behind Manchester City) and boasts a frontline made up of some excellent finishers, with Leandro Trossard, Bukayo Saka and Martinelli himself all (usually) sharp in front of goal.

Whatever the reason for it, Arsenal must sort out their indecisiveness fast or else this season will wind down to another disappointing end.
