3 ways Arsenal showed their maturity in Man City draw
- Arsenal defended superbly for a point at the Etihad
- Unbeaten against Klopp and Guardiola this season
- Title race remains in the balance
3. The win was there for the taking
There was a clear game plan in place by Mikel Arteta: allow City to dominate the ball in non-threatening areas and there will be chances to win the game on the counter-attack.
Despite only having 28% possession, Arsenal arguably had the two best chances of the game and should have made the most of their opportunities.
First, Gabriel Jesus came within millimetres of turning in a Bukayo Saka cross after the Gunners won the ball high up the pitch. Then with minutes left on the clock, Leandro Trossard was sent in behind the City backline and should have found Gabriel Martinelli to set up a one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
Arsenal were unable to take their chances, but a draw suits the visitors far more than the home side. The Gunners sit within a win of Liverpool and took eight points out of a possible 12 against their two title rivals. Arsenal have massively matured since last season, and that was once again highlighted in their visit to the Etihad. Could this season be the season?
