Arsenal have made some exceptional signings throughout the Premier League era. Just think back to the likes of Robin van Persie, Declan Rice and Thierry Henry.

3. Shkodran Mustafi (£35m)

Arsenal signed Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia in 2016 and somehow, the Germany international banked five years in North London before he was shipped elsewhere. Hilariously, Bleacher Report claimed that Mustafi was "worth every penny" at the time of his signing but they weren't alone - A lot of publications and pundits were sold by the illusion of Mustafi.

I'm not going to come on here and tell you how bad Mustafi was for Arsenal but it's his price tag (for a defender) which justifies his place as the third worst Arsenal signing of all-time.

Of course, Mustafi cannot control his own price tag. The only thing he can control is his performances on the pitch, which were controlled poorly. Arsenal fans have never seen a defender make more mistakes and touch wood, they will never see another like it.

Perhaps Mustafi was the right player at the wrong club but either way, he takes bronze place on this poor-dium.
