1. Nicolas Pepe (£72m)

To this day, Nicolas Pepe remains the second most expensive Arsenal signing of all-time. However, in terms of his legacy, he might just be one of the worst to ever don the jersey.

The Ivorian international was signed in 2019 from Lille and spent four seasons at Arsenal before his contract was FINALLY terminated in 2023. Although he had some okay moments, Pepe was a frustrating player to watch because he had everything except the end product.

Unai Emery couldn't get the best out of him and neither could Arteta. Pepe was a lost-cause, that's probably the best way to describe it.

At the time, Arsenal had never spent £72m on a player and it says a lot about Pepe that he put the club off from paying this much for a player until 2023, when Declan Rice took his place as the most expensive player in club history (thankfully)
