2. Bernd Leno

Interestingly, Bernd Leno made 71 appearances under Mikel Arteta. For a time period, the Germany international was the number one option for Arsenal, until things took a bitter turn.

Aaron Ramsdale was signed from Sheffield United in 2021. When he signed, nobody expected the Englishman to have too much of an impact at the club for one simple reason: Arsenal had a pretty respected goalkeeper in Bernd Leno at the time.

Mikel Arteta did make the executive decision to drop Leno to the bench, though. Soon, Ramsdale would impress in his performances and he would become the number one option for Arsenal, signalling the end of the road for Bernd Leno.

Indeed, Bernd Leno didn't remain at Arsenal for too much longer after being dropped to second choice. In 2022, Leno was signed by fellow London side Fulham.
