Since the creation of the Premier League in 1992, Arsenal have signed 11 players from Serie A and it is possible that number could increase in the coming weeks.

Riccardo Calafiori is looking likely to become the 12th man to make the move from Italy with Arsenal hoping to wrap a deal up next week.

Not all of the 11 moves have been successful but there are some who excelled after making the move to Arsenal from Italy's top division. Ahead of Calafiori's potential move, let's take a look at the four best Serie A to Arsenal transfers.

1. Thierry Henry

After an underwhelming season with Juventus, Thierry Henry moved to Arsenal for £11m in the 1999 summer transfer window, joining up with ex-Monaco manager Arsene Wenger.

He failed to score in his first eight games for the club but after netting his first in a 1-0 win at Southampton, he just carried on from there.

Henry was made club captain in 2005 and led his side to the 2006 Champions League final which they lost to Barcelona.

He won two league titles and two FA Cups during his time with the Gunners and was a member of the 'Invincibles' team. He scored 226 goals in 370 appearances for the club and netted two in seven during a short loan return. To this day, he is Arsenal's greatest ever goalscorer, having broken Ian Wright's record in 2005.

Henry left Arsenal to join Barcelona in 2007 as the greatest player in the club's history and arguably the best to ever grace the Premier League.
