3. Patrick Vieira

Patrick Vieira was brought to Arsenal from AC Milan in 1996 for a fee of £3.5m and went on to become one of, if not the, greatest midfielder in Premier League history.

He won three league titles and four FA Cups during his time at the club and was made captain upon the departure of Tony Adams in 2002.

Vieira was the man to lead the 'Invincibles' through their 49 game unbeaten streak. His final kick of a ball for the Gunners was to win the penalty shootout against Manchester United in the 2005 FA Cup final.

The Frenchman scored 32 goals and provided 50 assists in 405 appearances for Arsenal before departing for Juventus in 2005.
