2. Martin Odegaard

Norway international Martin Odegaard first joined Arsenal on a short-term loan deal from Real Madrid in January 2021 before completing a £30m move to north London in August of that year. He has since gone on to make 141 appearances for the club and has scored 33 goals.

He was named club captain in July 2022, just one year after joining the Gunners permanently. Having come so close to winning the Premier League title last season and with the team only getting better, Odegaard certainly looks like the most likely skipper of the Emirates era to lead the club to top-flight glory once again.

His goalscoring from midfield has allowed the team to be less reliant on a certain player for goals, as was the case when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was at the club. His ability to create chances from seemingly nothing with otherworldly passes and skill makes him currently one of the best attacking midfielders in the world.

His interactions with the Emirates crowd must also be noted. As the team's captain, Odegaard is always the first to uplift the crowd and boost the atmosphere around the stadium. He is very much to thank for the Emirates becoming a much more intimidating place for opposing teams to come in the last few years. As one of the best bargains of the previous five to ten years, Martin Odegaard is certainly one of the most important signings made by Mikel Arteta.
